TRAFFIC CONTROL FOR ROCK ‘N’ ROLL

Traffic Control Projects, April 13, 2014

On April 13, Raleigh, NC was host to the state’s first ever Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon, and the nearby AWP teams played a major role in getting the show on the road!

A team made up of traffic control professionals from AWP facilities in North Carolina and Georgia provided traffic control for 7.5 miles of road closures for the first ever Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon – Raleigh, NC. Our team attended meetings and worked with the marathon coordinators to plan and prepare for six weeks leading up to the event, and our ground crew spent four days setting up the course. In total, our team provided 2,500 traffic cones, 300 vertical panels, and 20 A-frame barricades to plot the course for the marathon.

The Marathon’s Course Director, Ted Metellus said our team are “true professionals,” and, “overall the execution was flawless.” Likewise our team felt privileged to be a part of such a major event, and the first of its kind for the area.

Last year, USTT (an AWP company) provided traffic control for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon in Savannah, GA and we will do it again this year, on November 8th, 2014!
